Lynn Carter Piano

Lynn read Music at Selwyn College, Cambridge, before achieving a distinction at postgraduate level in performance and an LRAM in teaching at the Royal Academy of Music. A nominated Park Lane Group Young Artist, Lynn currently studies with Patsy Toh.

An active chamber musician, Lynn performs regularly with her duo partner, cellist Jessie-Ann Richardson, as part of the Decibell Duo and the Liberta Trio. Lynn has also given many concerts with Matthew Knight, Joanna Stark, Michael Wigram and Charlotte Swift recently. Both ensembles perform regularly across the UK and in London. Lynn is equally keen to pursue solo piano repertoire, having performed concerti by Schumann, Mozart (9, 14, 23 & 24), Mendelssohn and Shostakovich. She has appeared at festivals such as those in Stratford-upon-Avon, Cambridge, Hastings, Wooburn and the Three Choirs Festival; other concert venues include St James’ Church, Piccadilly, the West Road Concert Hall in Cambridge, Brecon Cathedral, Wales, Tampere in Finland and the Esplanade in Singapore. Lynn is passionate about making music accessible to all audiences and so launched the Butlers Marston Concert Society in August 2009. Lynn is also Staff Accompanist at the Royal Academy of Music, Junior Department.

Throughout her career, Lynn has won numerous awards and prizes: she held an Instrumental Award for three years at Cambridge University before being winning a major scholarship from the Musicians Benevolent Fund and being highly commended in various competitions at the Royal Academy of Music. She now looks forward to performing as a Park Lane Group Young Artist 2010-2011 with Jessie-Ann Richardson.
